Sir John Jones is set to cut the ribbon marking the official opening of our nursery in Walton village – Oakmere Acorns. The cutting of the ribbon will take place on Wednesday 1st July at 3pm and marks the beginning of a brilliant adventure for Oakmere Acorns.
Sir John is one of a small, select band of educational professionals who have not only had their achievements recognised in the New Year’s Honours List (2003), but have been able to help and inspire others with their knowledge and passion. One of the most entertaining, inspiring and sought-after speakers on the global educational stage, his achievements and reputation for straight-talking, leadership and creativity have led him to be invited on to a number of panels and think-tanks.
The area has been going through a great deal of re-development and we feel our nursery in Walton village is the perfect addition to an already thriving community of businesses. Lyndsey Gill, the nursery manager, said “We want to be more than a nursery; we want to create a place for families to come and feel safe and comfortable”. The nursery will offer support not only for children but for their families too, for example, we already have CV building sessions in place as well as helping parents apply for jobs.
What’s more, we can offer support to young parents looking to get back into education as we can provide training through the college whilst offering childcare through the nursery. We will also be offering apprenticeships in childcare providing further opportunities for training and employment within the Walton area.
The nursery in Walton village will offer free childcare places for those families who meet the criteria and it will follow the Early Years foundation Stage which ensures children are meeting their developmental milestones.
