Lee Martin, an ex Manchester United football player, visited Oakmere today. Lee played for Manchester United between the years 1988-1994 and scored the winning goal for them in the 1990 FA cup final against Crystal Palace.
Our learners heard about how Lee had started off playing for Manchester United from a young age and the main thing that got him to playing for the first team was his positive attitude. His manager – Sir Alex Ferguson – once told him and his teammates; “you get out what you put in” and this is something he carried with him throughout his football career.
Lee also brought along with him his boots & medal from the 1990 final for students to look at and he showed them a clip of his winning goal.
We hope Lee’s visit has inspired our learners and will help them to have a positive attitude towards their learning as well as their futures.
