Yesterday some of students took a trip down to Lark Lane, as part of their catering course, to see one of Liverpool’s newest restaurants, Churrasco.
If you haven’t heard of them they are located at the junction of Lark Lane and Aigburth Road where the old public toilets used to be. As you can imagine things have changed quite a lot since the building was pubic toilets as it is now home to Churrasco steakhouse offering first class food and service. It has also been featured in the Liverpool Echo’s guide to Liverpool’s new bars & restaurants which can be viewed here.
Catering students were lucky enough to be able to go to the restaurant to see how it operates right through from the front of house to the kitchen. They were able to see how the things they have learnt as part of their catering course are put into action in a busy kitchen. The owners of the business also sat down with them and talked them through the kind of things they would expect on a day to day basis when working in a busy restaurant e.g. how every member of staff has a part to play in ensuring high standards are maintained.
Churrasco has also discussed the opportunity for our catering students to complete work experience placements to help them develop their skills and to gain invaluable experience in a real working environment.
